This position involves teaching 2-3 classes in DBT Skills and other adult independent living skills to small groups. Coaches will assist Academic Director with curriculum development and occasionally assist in other areas of the transition program. Our mission is to facilitate a transition to healthy independence for young adults and their families by empowering them to work with their learning struggles and self-defeating behaviors in a manner that supports personal responsibility and healthy interdependence so they can achieve their educational and life goals. Coaches advise and assist students in developing the confidence and skills necessary to successfully engage in college and workplace settings as adults. We offer opportunities for staff training and professional development. Coaches are expected to communicate effectively and regularly with diverse groups, including families and other professionals. Ideally, we are looking for candidates who have experience working with and around older adolescents or young adults. Previous teaching experience, working with learning differences and/or working with students in a treatment setting is preferred. Experience with/respect for Recovery and/or Mental Health treatment, higher education and/or job/career coaching is recommended but these aspects can be taught to the right candidate with a strong overall work ethic who can develop and maintain positive healthy relationships with students.
