Job Description

Employment Specialist Full-Time | $2,000 Hiring Bonus! Do you enjoy helping people build confidence, develop skills, and succeed in the workplace? Opportunity Foundation of Central Oregon is looking for an Employment Specialist to join our Vocational Support Services team. This is a hands-on, community-based position supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in finding, learning, and maintaining meaningful employment. You will work directly with individuals, employers, families, and other support team members to help create successful, sustainable employment opportunities. What You'll Do As an Employment Specialist, you will: Get to know each individual's strengths, interests, skills, and employment goals Help individuals identify and pursue meaningful employment opportunities Develop relationships with local employers and community partners Provide individualized job coaching and on-site training Help employers effectively train and support employees with disabilities Assist with workplace accommodations and help identify solutions to barriers Develop natural workplace supports and gradually reduce job coaching as individuals gain independence Coordinate with families, residential supports, employers, and other members of an individual's support team Monitor progress and communicate successes, challenges, and support needs Develop and maintain productive weekly schedules for assigned individuals Complete required documentation and track billable service hours Assist individuals with transportation needs related to employment Provide personal care and other individualized supports when required by an individual's support plan, which may include toileting, bathing, changing, food preparation, mobility assistance, physical therapy assistance, or medication support What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is patient, dependable, professional, flexible, and genuinely interested in helping people succeed.
Successful candidates will have:
An interest and willingness to work with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills The ability to build positive relationships with individuals, employers, families, and community partners A professional, positive, and proactive approach The ability to work independently while also contributing as part of a team Strong confidentiality and good judgment The flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends when needed Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Social Services or a related field preferred Experience working with adults with disabilities or in employment rehabilitation preferred Must be able to obtain an Employment Outcomes Professional certificate Must be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certification Must complete required annual job-related training Additional Requirements Candidates must: Pass an Oregon Background Check Unit (BCU) criminal background check Possess a valid Oregon driver's license with a driving record acceptable to our insurance carrier Maintain personal automobile insurance Pass pre-employment and random drug screening Be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, including routinely lifting up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifting up to 40 pounds with assistance or an appropriate device Why This Work Matters At Opportunity Foundation of Central Oregon, our work is centered on empowering people of diverse abilities and creating communities where all people can live, learn, and work together.
