Job Description

This position is posted in accordance with the (SCUPA) Collective Bargaining Unit.
POSITION SUMMARY
Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) invites applicants for an Associate Director for Academic, Career, and Professional Development (SUA3) in the Career and Professional Development Center Department. The team member in this role performs professional administrative work in conjunction with the director and other team members of the Career and Professional Development Center with a focus on student success, academic readiness, career readiness, and professional development in alignment with the university's strategic initiatives. The position supports student persistence, retention, academic achievement, career exploration, experiential learning, and successful transition to employment or graduate study through individualized coaching, developmental programming, and campus partnerships.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Oversee and manage the training, supervision, professional development, and evaluation of graduate team members. Prepare reports as requested and required. Prepare, update, and edit departmental publications and marketing materials; including the departmental programming calendar. Maintain weekly contact hours for individual academic and career readiness coaching and education appointments to meet the needs of students, alumni, and other constituents. Identify, plan, organize, facilitate, collaborate, and present academic and career readiness programs and workshops to various audiences. Collaborate with director and team to determine appropriate technological solutions utilized for academic and career readiness programming (oversee and implement technological solutions when needed). Serve as the campus liaison for The Washington Center (TWC) and The Disney College Program (DCP); including coordination with IUP faculty and TWC and DCP representatives for recruiting, registration, and billing/funding procedures. Partner with department internship supervisors to coordinate internship opportunities for students. Develop communication plans to publicize planned activities and regular communication to students, faculty, and staff regarding department programs, events, and initiatives. Seek and establish programming sponsorships, partnerships, and collaborations with internal and external constituents. Assist with cultivating long-term relationships with employers. Manage the implementation of employer recruiting activities for entry-level employment and internships, including information sessions, interviews, and other marketing strategies directed to students. Educate students on negotiation of offers, overall ethical and professional conduct, resume and cover letter writing, informational interviewing, interview preparation, time management and prioritization, and interview cancellations. Serve as a department representative for a variety of events, including recruiting visits to employer sites; participation in national, state, and regional professional associations, conferences, and career fair organizations; hosting organizations on campus for employer development and cultivation purposes; and Orientation, Admissions events and other such programming. Actively engage with professional organizations, including assuming leadership roles within those organizations and engage in professional development and benchmarking opportunities.
WORK SCHEDULE
Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Master's degree in higher education (or related field) with 2-3 years of experience and specialization in career services, success coaching, orientation or related work.
PREFERRED
3-5 years of experience and specialization in career services, success coaching, and/or orientation. Candidates must have the communication skills and cross-cultural abilities to maximize their effectiveness with diverse groups of students, colleagues, and community members. Candidates must communicate effectively and perform well in the interview(s).
