The Community & Employment Specialist plays an important role in helping individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) pursue meaningful employment, develop greater independence, and build the skills and confidence they need to live the life they choose. This is not a desk-bound position. You'll spend your time in schools, businesses, neighborhoods, and community settings—helping the people we support identify their goals, develop skills, explore opportunities, and take the next step toward greater independence. What You'll Do As a Community & Employment Specialist, you will provide individualized support through two exciting programs: Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) Work alongside students in school settings to help prepare them for life after high school and the world of work. You'll help students explore careers, develop workplace skills, understand employment expectations, and build confidence as they transition toward employment and adulthood. Medicaid Alternative Pathways (MAPs) Help individuals with IDD build the skills and experiences they need to pursue their personal goals. This may include supporting individuals as they: Develop employment and job-readiness skills Learn skills for greater independence Explore their neighborhoods and community resources Discover hobbies and interests Build relationships and increase community involvement Identify and work toward personal goals Utilize tools, technology, and individualized supports Explore meaningful employment opportunities What Makes This Job Different? You aren't simply checking boxes or completing paperwork. You're helping someone discover what they CAN do. One day might involve working with a student to explore career interests. Another might involve helping someone practice a new skill in their community, connect with a local employer, learn how to navigate their neighborhood, or take a step toward living more independently.

What We're Looking For Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED At least six months of successful experience working with individuals with disabilities One year of experience in a related field such as: Job Coaching Job Placement Vocational Rehabilitation Education Social Work Psychology Human Resources Or a related field Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently while collaborating with individuals, families, schools, employers, and community partners Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field Direct Support experience Experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities Experience in employment services, education, vocational rehabilitation, or community-based services Don't have every skill yet?
