Our Workforce Training & Community Development team has an opening for a full-time Disability Resource Coordinator who is responsible for providing career development services through Social Security's Ticket to Work program. Specifically, as our Disability Resource Coordinator, you will assistSSI/SSDI
beneficiaries in achieving their education and employment goals by developing customized Individual Work Plans for each participant. Additionally, you will evaluate and interpret customers' vocational and educational potential through aptitude and psychological assessments measuring interests, abilities, and work values. Furthermore, you will collaborate with staff from other programs and organizations, as needed, to provide long-term career advancement support. Essential Job Functions Important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Provides career development assistance and services to beneficiaries ofSSI/SSDI
through Hawkeye's Ticket to Work program in accordance with SSA guidelines. Conducts outreach to eligible beneficiaries to ensure program sustainability Delivers educational information to the public (business groups, disability groups, other agencies, local government) on employment services, Social Security Administration (SSA) work incentives, job accommodation, and the benefits of employment of persons with disabilities. Develops individual employment plans for job seekers with disabilities who are experiencing employment barriers. Maintains positive working relationships with Community Disability Advocacy Organizations, Regional Workforce Partner agencies, Business Organizations, Social Security Benefits Planners, and representatives from the local Social Security office. Works with partners to provide or facilitate training on issues and programs related to people with disabilities such as information on assistive technologies and accommodations. Works collaboratively between multiple teams to improve the employability of case-managed clients. Effectively present information to the public (business groups, disability groups, other agencies, local government) on employment services, Social Security Administration work incentives, job accommodation, and the benefits of employment of persons with disabilities. Assists SSA beneficiaries in understanding the impact of earnings on SSA and other program benefits. Makes referrals to appropriate resources when necessary. Stays updated and applies technical material related to services provided by SSA. Participates in internal and external campus committees as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned. Unless otherwise approved under Hawkeye's remote work policy, regular on-campus and/or onsite attendance is considered an essential function of the position. Minimum Qualifications Must meet one of the following criteria as required under the Social Security Administration's Ticket to Work program. Hawkeye Employment Network is a verified contractor under the Ticket to Work program. A Bachelor's degree in the fields of career counseling, psychological counseling, social work, mental health, rehabilitation counseling or human resources. One (1) year of demonstrated experience in the last 3 years providing employment, Vocational Rehabilitation, or other relevant support services to persons seeking employment. A combination of experience and education that meets the above said criteria. Knowledge of disability and employment services. Demonstrated ability to travel to and from appointments and meetings. Demonstrated ability to work with a wide array of students, faculty, staff, and the general public. Ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal communication. Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, Google applications, and video conferencing technology. Demonstrated ability to execute organization and department policies and procedures. Demonstrated ability to handle confidential/sensitive information with discretion. Has a Work Incentive Benefits Counseling Credential or obtains it within one year of position start date. Obtain and maintain SSA Suitability throughout the duration of their employment. Preferred Qualifications Direct experience with Social Security, Employment and Vocational Rehabilitation services as a customer or advocate. Knowledge of ADA and Section 504 necessary. Knowledge of Social Security Administration (SSA) disability benefits and work incentives. Working Conditions Anticipated schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm with occasional weekend or evening hours based on business/project need. Work is performed in an office and/or classroom setting using various technology. Requires good hand-eye coordination, including visual acuity to use a keyboard and read technical information; arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability the to grasp. Sit, stand, bend, lift and move frequently during working hours. During the course of day, interact with students, faculty and staff in person, by telephone and computers. Employment Status Full-time, grant funded, non-exempt position with comprehensive or competitive benefits program including health, dental, vision, life, and LTD insurance, a Section 125 plan for medical and dependent care expenses; holiday, personal, sick, and vacation leave; tuition reimbursement / tuition remission; and a choice of retirement programs—IPERS (defined benefit) or TIAA (defined contribution). This is a specially funded grant position through the Social Security Administration (SSA). Salary will be determined based on the candidate's education and experience and internal equity. The wage range for this position begins at $22.06/hr. (approximately $45,890 annually).
