Job Description

Job Overview The Job Coach provides short-term support to students who are learning new jobs in the school or community. Roles and Responsibilities The following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being performed. This is not a comprehensive listing of all responsibilities or tasks; work may differ and other work may be assigned when deemed appropriate. Assists in setting work plans for students including accommodations, scheduling, transportation, and task analysis Provides direct support and systematic training to students working in the community; assists in travel training Collects data on student progress in the work environment; assists in the social integration of students in the workplace Trains students to the level of independence and fades support on the job May support students from other schools when necessary Qualifications Below are the minimum qualifications for this job. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are also acceptable. Education High School Diploma or GED supplemented by course work in child development or a related field Experience Experience working with children Licenses and Certifications Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to communicate effectively Decision-making skills Ability to work effectively in the community Knowledge of student behavior as applied to children Knowledge of the language, culture, and other characteristics of the families whose children are enrolled in Loudoun County Public Schools Ability to work effectively with children Ability to carry out designated instructional assignments properly Ability to note and record student behavior Ability to supervise student behavior and learning activities Ability to perform general clerical work Physical Requirements The following provides a brief description of physical requirements for this job: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly talking, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. The employee must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly. The employee must possess normal cognitive abilities including the ability to learn, recall and apply certain practices and policies. Work requires frequently sitting and/or remaining in a stationary position for long periods of time; exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and negligible amounts of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
