Peer Support Specialist - Substance Use Recovery Colleton County Pillars4Hope is seeking a compassionate and dependable Peer Support Specialist to provide recovery-focused support to individuals impacted by substance use disorders. The Peer Support Specialist will use lived recovery experience, appropriate self-disclosure, and peer support principles to help individuals build hope, strengthen recovery skills, access community resources, and work toward their personal recovery goals. Key Responsibilities Provide one-on-one peer support to individuals experiencing substance use and recovery-related challenges. Use personal lived experience appropriately to encourage hope, engagement, and sustained recovery. Assist individuals in identifying recovery goals and developing practical steps toward achieving them. Help participants identify and access community resources, including treatment, recovery support, housing, employment, transportation, healthcare, and other supportive services. Provide recovery education and promote healthy coping skills, self-advocacy, wellness, and independent living. Facilitate and/or co-facilitate peer recovery support groups and recovery-focused activities. Support individuals during transitions between treatment, community services, and other levels of care. Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and protect participant confidentiality. Complete required documentation accurately and within established timeframes. Maintain regular communication with supervisors and other members of the service team. Participate in staff meetings, supervision, training, and professional development activities. Connect individuals with community-based recovery supports and other appropriate services. Follow all organizational policies, ethical standards, confidentiality requirements, and applicable state and federal regulations. Perform other duties related to peer support and recovery services as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Personal lived experience with substance use recovery and the ability to use that experience appropriately in a professional peer-support role. Certified Peer Support Specialist credential preferred or willingness to obtain required certification within an established timeframe. Knowledge of recovery-oriented systems of care, community resources, and substance use disorder services preferred. Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills. Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries. Basic computer skills and ability to complete electronic documentation. Ability to work independently while functioning effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation may be required based on job responsibilities. Preferred Skills Experience providing peer recovery or behavioral health support. Knowledge of harm reduction, motivational approaches, recovery planning, and community-based support services. Experience facilitating recovery groups or community outreach activities. Familiarity with local behavioral health, substance use treatment, and recovery resources.

Pay:

$30,000.00 - $34,000.00 per year
