Know Your Team:
BSA Health System, located in Amarillo, Texas, is an extensive health system providing clinical excellence to the Texas Panhandle and the tri-state area. We are acclaimed for our superior quality and customer service. As the fourth largest employer in Amarillo, our hospital has a medical staff of more than 450 physicians and about 3,000 employees.
Responsibilities:
The prior authorization specialist is responsible for coordinating and processing prior authorizations as requested by providers. Obtains and processes initial prior authorizations and re-authorizations as required by insurance providers. Notifies patient of appointments and gives any instructions required for appointment. Enters insurance prior authorization documentation into the electronic health record. Communicates patient financial responsibility for healthcare services to patients and guarantors. Create and provide cost estimates for scheduled services and procedures. Collect deposits, copayments, deductibles, and other patient payments. Performs additional prior authorization responsibilities and clerical work as needed within the clinic.
Qualifications:
Job Requirements:
High School (or GED equivalent) diploma. Prior experience in a customer service role. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel.
Preferred Job Requirements:
Prior scheduling or prior authorization experience.
