University Career Services Salary :
Commensurate with Experience/Education Summary Assists University Career Services leadership in providing career advising, career counseling, and job placement services for students and recent alumni. This position will provide services at Sugar Land, Katy and Main Campus, as necessary. Facilitates awareness of services with an emphasis on developing new employment opportunities for recent alumni in the greater Houston community.

Assists University Career Services leadership in providing career advising, career counseling, and job placement services for students and recent graduates. Facilitates awareness of services with an emphasis on developing new employment opportunities for UH alumni in the greater community. 1. Advises and counsels University of Houston students and new alumni in career decision-making, organizing, and implementing a professional job search. Addresses the needs of job seekers who are considering career changes and those who have delayed entry to, or who are re-entering, the job market. 2. Provides resources and training in the preparation of resumes, the development of effective interview skills, and sources of employment opportunities. 3. Manages alumni career services resources for new alumni, including policies and procedures, communications with alumni, the use of information technology, the development of brochures and other literature, administration of fees, and program assessments. 4. Cultivates and maintains close working relationships with university organizations and community agencies that might serve as resources for UH students and new alumni, including the UH Alumni Organization, various college-based alumni organizations, executive recruiters, sponsors of job fairs, and others. 5. Coordinates and/or participates in job development, survey research, work-study job placement, workshops and presentations within and outside the career center, and other special projects of University Career Services. 6. Maintains employment and internship data and conducts assessments relative to the utilization of career services, satisfaction with services, and other quantifiable and qualitative aspects of career services. 7. Leads training sessions for colleagues on appropriate career development topics. Participates in professional development activities offered by the department, the Division of Student Affairs, the University, and professional organizations. Maintains a self-directed program of professional readings. 8. Performs other job-related duties as required

Education:
Requires application of advanced principles, techniques and theory in a professional discipline or a thorough general business management knowledge. Knowledge of this level is typically obtained through a directly job-related Master's degree or equivalent formal training in a recognized field of specialization that is directly related to the type of work being performed.
Experience:
Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience.

Overview:
Coach undergraduate, graduate students, and recent alumni at UH Main, Sugar and Katy campuses. Facilitate workshops covering topics on career exploration, interviewing, networking, job/internship search techniques, and graduate/professional school preparation. Analyze and interpret career assessment results and incorporate them in career coaching sessions.
Additional Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Career Coaching and Facilitation
  • Coach students and facilitates engaging workshops regarding career exploration, preparation, interviewing, networking and job/internship search techniques.
Analyze and interpret career assessment results and incorporate in career counseling and coaching sessions.
Marketing and Project Management:
  • Lead UCS marketing committee and ensures all marketing projects are streamlined and completed before the deadline. This includes leading the committee to research and order promotional items for student and employer giveaways.
  • Promotes and markets University Career Services (UCS) services such as Cougar Pathway, Focus 2, Career Assessments, and Springshare platform to engage students/recent alumni participation.
Responsible for supporting the marketing, and outreach of UCS career fairs and featured/prep weeks to students and recent alumni at the Sugar Land and Katy campuses in partnership with the employer development and relations team.
  • Assists local employers with recruiting UH students by sharing information about job posting, career fairs, other campus recruiting options.
Works closely with local employers through Chamber of Commerce, to promote career fairs and recruiting opportunities
Campus Collaboration and Partnerships:
  • Collaborates with college partners to conducts workshops and seminars concerning career preparation, interviewing skills and Job search techniques. Conduct in-classroom presentations, collaborate with faculty and staff to plan career events.
  • Plans and coordinates recruiting events like brown bag presentations, employer panels, tabling, and careers fair from inception to implementation including logistics and ordering food.
Promote University Career Services (UCS) recruitment services such as Cougar Pathway and engage students/alumni participation in career fairs, on­ campus recruitment, and other UCS events
Community Relationship Management:
  • Cultivate and maintain strategic relationships with university organizations and community agencies in the Sugar Land and Katy area.
Collaborate with executive recruiters, faculty, and other key community members in the Sugar Land and Katy area to leverage resources for the benefit of UH students and recent alumni.
Employer Partnerships and Recruitment Strategies:
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and Associate Director for Employer Relations to establish partnerships with employers in the Sugar Land and Katy area.
Assist in developing recruitment strategies and programs aimed at enhancing employer relationships in the Sugar Land and Katy area to support career development opportunities for students. Assist with employer outreach in the Sugar Land and Katy area to create and increase experiential learning (internships and co-ops) opportunities for UH students
Employee Career Development and Training:
  • Assists with providing career development support and ongoing training to career development specialists.
Professional Development:
  • Stays abreast of relevant labor market trends, and salary resources through active participation in related national, local, and/or regional professional associations.
Engages in continuing education, training, and on-going professional development opportunities.
Assessment and Evaluation:
  • Manages and evaluates career coaching services and programs; prepares monthly status reports; strategically recommends and implements improvements to services.

  • Excellent collaboration skills and the ability to develop and build relationships with diverse populations and employers.
  • Ability to manage up and communicate clearly and respectfully across different levels of the organization.
  • Exhibit excellent presentation as well as professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills; detail-oriented; self-starter; creative; and willingness to learn.
  • Good working knowledge of the career management technology platforms such as Symplicity.
  • Experience in marketing, communications and/or outreach to diverse student populations
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office including SharePoint, and MS Teams. As well as creative marketing tools, like, Canva
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work responsibilities and changes in a fast-paced environment; problem solving skills.
  • Exhibit strong project management and program coordination of career related programs.
  • Position may involve evening presentations and events.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required
