Drift Coach (Part-Time, Weekends) — Texas Drift Academy Texas Drift Academy teaches people to drift in one day. Students show up having never driven a manual and leave linking corners in full smoke, with a coach in the passenger seat the whole time. We run classes at Real Life Amphitheater in Selma (one hour south of Austin) and at away events in Kansas and Dallas. We're adding coaches for our fall and winter schedule. You don't need to know how to drift. We teach you, then we train you to coach it. What the job is You ride in the passenger seat of a drift-built 350Z and coach a beginner through their first day sideways: e-brake initiations on the wet pad in the morning, linking corners on the full course in the afternoon. Groups are small, so you're working closely with each student. What success looks like Students leave your car linking corners and saying it was the most fun day they've had all year. They book the next level, bring a friend, or buy a class as a gift. Our best coaches get requested by name. How it fits Coaches report to the Head Coach and work alongside our mechanics and event crew. Every class we run depends on having enough good coaches in the cars, so this role is the product. Responsibilities Coach students of all skill levels from the passenger seat, following TDA's curriculum Keep students safe: run pre-drive briefings, manage the grid, call runs on the radio Read each student and adjust: some need more commitment on throttle, some need to let go of the wheel Keep the energy up all day and give every student a real reason to come back Spot the student who's ready for the next level and tell them so Help with setup and pack-down on class days Travel to away events (Kansas, Dallas) when scheduled; travel is covered Qualifications Good with strangers.
