00 Annually Location Richmond Campus, 5333 FM 1640, Richmond, TX Job Type Administrative Full Time Job Number 2609 A 035 Department Vice President of Access, Completion, and Transfer Division Academic and Career Advising Opening Date 09/16/2026 Closing Date 10/1/2026 10:00 AM Central Description Benefits Questions General Description The Senior Academic and Career Advisor is responsible for managing the staff and daily operations of a designated WCJC campus and providing academic, career and transfer advising services such as recommending appropriate course selections based on student educational goals, identifying programs at the College that meet students goals, building short and long term academic plans for students, assisting students with career readiness or transfer planning, and developing, assisting and facilitating student success programs at the College. The Senior Advisor works as the manager on their respective campus, provides peer advice to other advisors on staff, and assists the Director with administrative responsibilities. This position requires two (2) years of experience in academic, career, or transfer advising, counseling, or development in a college environment. This position requires skills in interviewing and advising students. This position requires superior organizational, oral, and written communication skills. This position requires computer skills with a proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience working with database information. This position requires the ability to work independently and as a part of a team. This position requires the ability to create and conduct presentations to large and small groups, both in person and virtually. This position requires the ability to deal extensively and effectively with a wide variety of individuals requiring excellent interpersonal skills, listening skills, and communication skills in order to assist students in achieving their academic goals. The person in this position must be able to provide continuous courteous customer service to students, parents, the community, staff, and administration. Occasional evening and weekend work hours will be included in the position. A criminal background check is also required.
