Located in Roosevelt, Utah , this role provides a meaningful opportunity to help students prepare for college and achieve their educational goals. As part of TRIO Pre-College Programs, the Academic Advisor serves as a trusted resource for current and prospective students, guiding them through academic planning, major and career exploration, concurrent enrollment opportunities, and college readiness. Through personalized advising, proactive outreach, and individualized education plans, this position helps students build confidence, navigate important educational decisions, and stay on track toward future success. The Academic Advisor works closely with students, families, schools, and community partners to expand access to educational opportunities and help students achieve their aspirations. From interpreting academic information and maintaining student records to supporting college applications and career planning, this position offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact in the Uintah Basin while gaining valuable experience in advising, college access, and student success within a supportive university environment. Advises and supports program students, including first-generation and low-income students. Advises current and prospective program students on aspects of Concurrent Enrollment, including admissions, registration, pathways, university processes, and campus engagement. Counsels students in the development of educational plans, career and major exploration, and course selections that align with student goals. Interprets academic test scores and assists students with appropriate course placement. Counsels students who are in academic difficulty and helps facilitate progress. Documents and maintains student advising records. Consults with faculty and staff to document program changes. Ensures students receive up-to-date and accurate information concerning changes, assessment guidelines, course and instructor information, transfer guidelines, scholarships, and transition. Advises and supports Program th-grade students, including First Gen & Low-income, in connecting to educational opportunities, applying for colleges, scholarships, and FAFSA submission and completion. Audits student records for curriculum, major, and graduation requirements. Monitors risk trends over time, tracks student performance and progression toward graduation, and guides students to needed interventions. Monitors student graduation progress. Advises students regarding major fit and identifies students in need of additional support or proactive intervention. Maintains a caseload of incoming and continuing program students. Recruits students into the program. Maintains student records using computer applications relevant to file maintenance and organization of caseload. Assists students with course planning to help them meet their educational and career goals. Assists students with the enrollment and registration process. Coordinates the preparation and submission of various reports, including Monthly Time Reports, Activity and Counseling Reports, and Project Status Reports. Assists in preparing the APR annual performance report. Performs other job-related duties as assigned Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's degree, plus one year of experience related to the Summary of Duties. Knowledge of student advisement and recruitment. Knowledge of Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word, and e-mail. Skills in records management. Skills in public relations. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Ability to work with a diverse group and/or individuals.
