Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Provider to empower individuals with developmental disabilities to live fulfilling, independent lives. In this vital role, you will deliver personalized care, promote well-being, and foster a supportive environment that encourages growth and dignity. Your dedication will make a meaningful difference in the lives of residents and their families by providing attentive, respectful, and proactive support across various care settings. Duties Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support. Administer medication following prescribed care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations and medical terminology standards. Monitor vital signs and observe behavioral changes to ensure safety and well-being. Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption as needed. Support residents with personal hygiene, cleaning their living areas, and maintaining a hygienic environment. Document care activities accurately using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and update progress notes regularly. Drive residents to appointments or outings safely while practicing proper driving safety protocols. Manage conflict or behavioral challenges through effective behavior management strategies and de-escalation techniques. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, social workers, case managers, and family members to develop and follow comprehensive care plans. Engage residents in social activities or recreational programs to promote mental stimulation and social interaction. Experience Prior experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, home care, or special needs environments is highly preferred. Demonstrated experience working with people with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, traumatic Brain injury, and other special needs. Familiarity with medical procedures such as vital signs measurement, medication administration, first aid certification, and basic patient care is required, as well as Article 7 training and Prevention and Support descatlation training. A valid Level one Fingerprint Clearance card and Identification is required. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, medical terminology, EMR systems, and case management practices is advantageous. Experience in caregiving roles involving heavy lifting or the use of assistive devices enhances suitability for this position. Strong conflict management skills combined with compassionate communication are vital for success in this role. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is necessary for transporting residents safely when required.
