We are looking for a friendly, energetic, patient, and engaging caregiver/mentor to support a teen with Autism Spectrum Disorder. This role is a combination of companionship, social mentoring, and community support . The goal is to help him build communication and social skills while enjoying meaningful activities both at home and out in the community. The ideal person will be someone who genuinely enjoys spending time with teens, can keep conversations going, and is comfortable providing gentle guidance in everyday situations. Responsibilities Spend time with him engaging in conversation, games, and activities based on his interests. Encourage back-and-forth conversation, appropriate communication, and social interaction. Provide positive social coaching and help him understand appropriate social norms in everyday situations. Take him out into the community for activities and outings , such as shopping, getting food, going to parks, recreational activities, entertainment, or other age-appropriate community activities. Support him with safely navigating community settings and practicing appropriate behavior and communication while out. Encourage independence while providing supervision and guidance when needed. Help him participate in new activities and become more comfortable interacting with others. Be a positive role model and mentor while keeping the experience fun, relaxed, and engaging. Build a trusting relationship with him through patience, consistency, humor, and genuine companionship. Ideal Candidate You may be a great fit if you are: Upbeat, friendly, social, and naturally talkative. Comfortable interacting with teenagers and able to keep them engaged. Patient and willing to give him time to process, respond, or initiate conversation. Enjoy video games and other typical teen interests. Comfortable going on community outings and participating in activities alongside him. Responsible, dependable, and attentive to safety. Funny, easygoing, and able to make activities enjoyable. Interested in being a positive mentor and making a meaningful difference. Experience with autism is helpful but not required. The most important qualities are patience, kindness, reliability, and a genuine interest in connecting with and supporting a teen.
