California Ave., Monrovia, CA 91016 About the Position As a Direct Care Worker, you will work directly with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, providing individualized support to help them build independence, develop important skills, participate in their communities, and work toward their personal goals. This is an active, hands-on position that is well suited for someone who is patient, caring, dependable, and passionate about helping others. What You'll Do As a Direct Care Worker, you will: Provide direct supervision, care, and support to clients throughout the day. Encourage client independence, skill development, and participation in the community. Assist clients with arrival, departure, and daily transitions. Provide person-centered activities based on each individual's needs and abilities. Assist with activities of daily living, including toileting, hygiene, mobility, and personal care while maintaining client dignity and privacy. Implement Individual Service Plans (ISPs) and support clients in developing new skills. Follow individual care plans, medical protocols, dietary restrictions, and risk assessments. Implement approved behavior support strategies. Support clients during community outings, volunteer activities, and employment opportunities. Transport clients when assigned and follow agency pick-up and drop-off procedures. Complete required documentation, including progress notes, behavioral and skills data, incident reports, body checks, and community outing documentation. Respond appropriately to behavioral crises and medical emergencies using approved procedures and training. Work collaboratively with supervisors, coworkers, caregivers, and other members of the client's support team. Participate in required staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities. What We're Looking For Successful candidates should have: A high school diploma or equivalent . The ability to obtain and maintain required background clearances. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Good judgment and the ability to follow established procedures. The ability to maintain client confidentiality and professional boundaries. The ability to work independently while also being a dependable and supportive team member. A valid California Driver License and acceptable driving record when transportation duties are assigned. Training & Development Vocational Innovations provides required training to help you succeed in the position, including: CPR Training ProACT Training 40 hours of RBT training , to be completed within the first year of employment. RBT training may be completed on weekends, off-site and/or on-site. Physical Requirements This is an active, hands-on position.
Employees must be able to:
Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, reach, and lift throughout the workday. Assist clients with mobility and personal care. Lift, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds . Safely operate agency vehicles when assigned. Work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Work Environment Direct Care Workers provide support in day program settings, transportation environments, and throughout the community while working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The position may involve supporting individuals experiencing challenging behaviors or medical emergencies. Employees are expected to follow all established safety procedures, client plans, agency policies, licensing requirements, and applicable regulations. Would you be comfortable with meeting these requirements? For insurance eligibility purposes, please confirm that you are at least 25 years of age and indicate the total number of years of your driving experience. Are you willing to transport clients in your personal vehicle? Company meetings are 3pm to 4pm once a month and some Saturday trainings. All dates will be given in advance. Will you be able to attend all meetings and trainings?
