Specialized Personal Attendants are not housekeepers and should involve the person he/she supports in all tasks, as the person is able. Assists with communication needs in whatever manner needed (e.g., speaking, writing, reading, emailing, and facilitated communication) Ensures that the physical, health, and safety needs are being met. Assists in developing and carrying out goals and objectives, including education and training. Assists with any community activities in which he/she is involved. Supervising clients in personal care (e.g., bathing, showering, grooming, etc.). Assisting clients in preparing meals. Overseeing clients performing daily living tasks, which may include the use and monitoring of assistive devices and precautionary equipment, such as a Hoyer lift, bathing rails, ramps, etc., to ensure client's safety. Performing limited housekeeping tasks in the client's personal space.
