- 18 Bradley Gardens, a 44-bed skilled nursing facility specializing in adult psychiatric care.
Our behavioral health and nursing teams work together to help rehabilitate our residents to heal medically and learn independent life skills through an interdisciplinary program. We provide ADL assistance, medication management, evidence-based group sessions, and one-on-one individualized sessions that are strength-based and goal-oriented. Job Summary Under general supervision, provides safe and timely transportation of residents to and from appointments and functions.
Essential Functions:
On a daily basis, familiarizes him/herself with the resident appointments schedule. Coordinates with nursing and/or therapy to locate the resident and check out with the responsible charge nurse. Carefully and safely ensures the resident is escorted and/or given assistance to load in the vehicle. Drives safely to location of the appointment. Checks in the resident to the appointment location, working with the destination office staff and stay with them as needed to ensure comfort and security. Carefully and safely returns resident to the facility, checking back in with the responsible charge nurse. Works with activities staff to drive residents to off-site activities. Ensures safety, maintenance, and cleanliness of the company vehicle, inspecting daily and immediately addressing any needs; follows preventive maintenance schedule of the vehicle.
Non-Essential or Infrequent Duties:
Other duties as assigned which may include, but not limited to miscellaneous recordkeeping and other administrative duties to assist the facility
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
May be asked to work in facility to assist with the one-on-one monitoring of our residents as needed. Current California Driver License with Class of License required for facility type of vehicle(s). Satisfactory driving record as determined by company insurance carrier. Ability to demonstrate knowledge and competent and safe operation of facility vehicle(s) and operation of assistive wheelchair lifts. Knowledge and demonstration of safe resident handling pertaining to loading and assisting residents in and out of the company vehicle(s). Ongoing focus on safety for residents, families, and for the company vehicle. Knowledge of and strict adherence to vehicle maintenance schedule, and routine maintenance and cleanliness needs. Knowledge of and strict adherence to company standard regarding use of cellular device when operating the company vehicle. Dependable. Outstanding communication skills. Outstanding customer service skills.
Education and Experience :
High school diploma or GED. Prior experience as a driver for an organization, preferably a medical organization. Familiarity with basic mental health conditions (e.g., anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder)
Physical Requirements Physical:
Nonexistence of a health condition that can cause driver to lose control or become immobilized during driving. Ability to scan left/right, over shoulder, and use mirrors. Ability to steer, coordinate pedals and control gearshift. Ability to operate vehicular controls. Ability to sit in same position for extended periods of time.
