Job Description

The Health Aide provides support and assistance to residents with activities of daily living to include bathing, dressing, eating, medications and social activities. .
Requirements:
Must pass state required physical, and TB test. Must be fingerprinted and free of criminal conviction. Must be able to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing, receive written and oral instructions and possess good interaction skills. Must be able to safely perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Must have reliable transportation
Essential Job Functions and Resposibilities:
Provide professional, compassionate and quality care to all residents. Assists residents with activities of daily living (ADL's). Promptly responds to all resident care needs and emergency situations. Performs rounding to assure resident safety. Monitors residents for changes in condition and reports changes to supervisor. Supports resident care plan and notifies Director of changes that may need to be made to resident's care plan. Provides for the residents physical care including bathing, performing hygiene tasks, toileting, assisting with meals, and other tasks. Transfers residents in and out of beds, baths, wheelchairs and/or automobiles. Changes bed linens, picks up laundry and assists to maintain tidiness of resident bedrooms, closets and dresser drawers, as well as common areas and perform other housekeeping duties as needed. Transports residents to and from activity locations, which may include some driving of vehicles and golf carts. Facilitates and participates in residents group activities. Engage residents in meaningful conversation and participate in individual resident activities which are deemed as necessary for their highest participation level. Including monitoring of residents for limitations and distress to prevent discomfort and/or injury. Documents all care and if appropriate, medications, on the appropriate health care/medical records computer system or other systems that might be in use. Maintains current awareness of new policies and procedures affecting the department and organization. Transports residents to doctor appointments when needed or in emergency situations. Transports lab specimens as needed. Completes incident reports for any incidents that occurred on assigned shift. Attend meetings and inservices as required. Follows all safety, security, infection control and hazardous materials policies and procedures. Performs related work as assigned.
