WHAT YOU'LL DO

As a Direct Care Counselor, you'll help create a safe, structured, and supportive environment for young people receiving residential services.

Your day may include:

Building positive, trusting relationships with the individuals you support Providing guidance, encouragement, and supervision throughout the shift Teaching practical skills that promote independence and confidence Supporting emotional regulation, communication, social skills, and positive behaviors Participating in recreational, therapeutic, and community-based activities Following individualized treatment and behavioral support strategies Observing and documenting behaviors, activities, and significant events Responding appropriately to behavioral or emergency situations using approved techniques Providing transportation and support during community activities when required Assisting with meals, household responsibilities, and maintaining a comfortable living environment Communicating important information with coworkers and members of the individual's support team Participating in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development Serving as a positive role model and advocate for the individuals in our care
