WHAT YOU'LL DO
As a Direct Care Counselor, you will: Provide daily guidance, supervision, mentoring, and life-skills training to adolescent residents. Build positive, supportive relationships with residents and serve as a consistent and positive role model. Help residents develop healthy coping, behavior, communication, and anger-management skills. Support a safe, structured, and therapeutic home environment using Ädelbrook's trauma-informed approach. Provide one-to-one mentoring and individualized support when needed. Participate in therapeutic activities and programming designed to support residents' goals. Respond to challenging situations using approved, least-restrictive interventions and agency protocols. Document and communicate resident progress, behaviors, needs, and significant events accurately. Support residents with appointments, community activities, transportation, and other activities that promote independence and community participation. Teach practical life skills, including household responsibilities, meal preparation, organization, and daily living skills. Work collaboratively with members of the treatment team. Participate in staff meetings, required trainings, therapy groups, and agency activities. Maintain a safe, secure, clean, and welcoming residential environment. Follow all agency procedures related to emergencies, illnesses, safety, mandated reporting, documentation, and communication. Maintain a high level of professionalism and serve as a positive example for residents and fellow staff. Work collaboratively across the TGH department and support other TGH homes when needed. Perform other duties as assigned, including mandatory overtime when required.
