Part-Time Memory Care Companion / Caregiver Home Assistant Brooklyn Heights Norwalk, CT Job Details Part-time $24 - $25 an hour 21 hours ago Qualifications Patients with cognitive disabilities Experience working with individuals with cognitive disabilities Working with seniors Performing background checks Empathy Experience working with individuals with neurological conditions Full Job Description About the Role We are seeking a warm, patient, and experienced Memory Care Companion to provide social engagement and supervision for our wonderful 81-year-old mother .She is fully ambulatory and independent with her physical activities of daily living—she walks well, bathes herself, and eats independently. However, due to cognitive impairment and dementia, she requires a dedicated companion to keep her safe, engaged, and thriving. This position takes place within her clean, bright, and highly supportive memory care facility, offering a pleasant and safe environment for both her and her caregiver.
Key Responsibilities Companionship & Engagement:
Reminiscing, reading, listening to music, playing simple games, and going for walks around the community.Cognitive Supervision:
Providing a watchful eye to ensure safety, comfort, and emotional well-being.Verbal Cuing:
Offering gentle reminders and direction for daily routines, appointments, or meals.Social Support:
Accompanying her to community activities and helping her stay socially connected.Requirements & Qualifications Dementia Experience Required:
Proven experience working with older adults experiencing cognitive decline, Alzheimer's, or dementia.Key Traits:
High emotional intelligence, deep patience, a gentle demeanor, and strong communication skills.Reliability:
Dependable transportation and a consistent schedule.Background Check:
Must be willing to undergo a standard background check and meet any health screening requirements required by the memory care facility (e.g., TB test, if applicable).Pay:
