Job Description

D&L Companions, LLC is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and dependable live-in caregiver to provide nonmedical, client-centered care for an older adult living with dementia. The caregiver will support the client's safety, dignity, comfort, daily routine, and independence in the client's home. Responsibilities Provide calm, reassuring companionship and meaningful activities appropriate to the client's abilities and interests. Follow the client's individualized Plan of Care and maintain a consistent daily routine. Assist with personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, oral hygiene, and incontinence care. Support safe mobility and walking as directed. Prepare meals and snacks according to dietary instructions and monitor food and fluid intake. Provide medication reminders. Perform light housekeeping, laundry, dishes, and other home-management tasks. Use dementia-appropriate communication, redirection, and safety practices. Observe and promptly report changes in cognition, behavior, appetite, sleep, mobility, or general condition to the supervisor. Complete required care notes and maintain professional boundaries, privacy, and confidentiality. Remain in the home during the assigned live-in period and respond to nighttime needs according to the care plan and agreed schedule. Qualifications Previous professional experience caring for a person with dementia or Alzheimer's disease is required. Experience with personal care and activities of daily living is required; CNA, HHA, or PCA credentials are preferred. Patient, dependable, observant, and able to communicate respectfully with the client, family, and agency. Ability to remain calm and use appropriate redirection when confusion or challenging behaviors occur. Ability to work independently, follow written instructions, and document care accurately. Ability to safely perform the physical duties listed in the Plan of Care, with or without reasonable accommodation.
