Position Summary The Direct Care Staff member plays an important role in providing a safe, supportive, and structured environment for youth residing in our group home. This position is responsible for the day-to-day supervision, care, and support of female youth ages 12-17, while promoting personal growth, independence, positive behavior, and overall well-being. Direct Care Staff will assist with daily routines, including morning preparation, meals, school-related activities, homework, chores, recreational activities, transportation, and bedtime routines. Staff are expected to actively engage with the youth and serve as positive role models while maintaining a caring, structured, and respectful home environment. This position also includes documentation, home management, participation in team meetings, required training, and communication with administrators, teachers, healthcare professionals, parents/guardians, and other members of the youth's support team. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Provide consistent supervision and support to youth in accordance with program requirements and individual needs. Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all youth served. Provide appropriate intervention, redirection, and behavioral support when necessary. Maintain a safe, structured, and nurturing living environment. Assist youth with daily routines and activities, including: Morning and bedtime routines Healthy meals and meal preparation Homework and school-related activities Personal hygiene and daily living skills Household chores and responsibilities Recreational and community activities Encourage and support youth in developing independence, life skills, positive decision-making, and appropriate social skills. Transport youth to and from school, medical appointments, extracurricular activities, and approved community activities using program vehicles. Monitor interactions between youth and provide support to promote positive relationships and appropriate behavior. Monitor and assist with the medical and healthcare needs of youth as directed by the appropriate care plans and professionals. Complete accurate and timely daily progress notes documenting activities, behaviors, significant events, and other relevant information. Complete required daily documentation, correspondence, and records while maintaining confidentiality. Assist with the completion of intake procedures and related documentation. Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and overall condition of the group home. Ensure youth complete assigned household chores and responsibilities according to established schedules and provide assistance when needed. Participate in staff meetings, team meetings, and required in-service training. Maintain compliance with applicable state and federal regulations, licensing requirements, and agency policies and procedures. Communicate professionally and effectively with administrators, coworkers, teachers, healthcare professionals, parents/guardians, and other members of the youth's support team. Serve as a positive role model and advocate for the youth while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries. Perform other duties as assigned to support the needs of the program and youth served. Qualifications & Requirements High school diploma or GED required. 2-3 years of experience in direct care, caregiving, residential services, behavioral support, or a related field preferred. Experience working with youth or individuals with challenging behaviors strongly preferred. Previous supervisory, leadership, or team-lead experience preferred. Experience working in a group home, residential treatment setting, behavioral health setting, or similar environment is a plus. Must be comfortable working with female youth ages 12-17. Valid driver's license and a clean driving record required. Successful completion of required background screening and employment clearances. Must not have a disqualifying conviction related to abuse, neglect, or other position-relevant offenses. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding youth and program information. Ability to follow individualized plans, safety procedures, and behavioral support strategies. Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional when responding to challenging behaviors or stressful situations. Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Basic computer and documentation skills, with the ability to learn agency-specific systems and software. Ability to complete required documentation accurately and on time. Ability to lift at least 20 pounds and perform physical activities such as bending, stooping, reaching, standing, and walking as required. Ability to work independently as well as effectively as part of a team. Commitment to putting the safety, well-being, and development of the youth first.
