Job Description

Job Summary The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities and other special needs. This position involves providing assistance and support in daily living activities, promoting independence, and ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. The DSP will work closely with clients to foster their personal growth and help them achieve their goals while maintaining dignity and respect. Schedule is Monday through Friday with 15 hours a week to start and then extend to 30 hours a week . Staff will need their own vehicle. Client will need to be picked up from USF in the afternoon. Responsibilities Support clients in community integration by facilitating participation in social, recreational, and educational activities. Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's unique needs and preferences. Monitor and document client progress, behaviors, and any changes in condition. Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the overall well-being of clients. Ensure a safe environment by adhering to health and safety protocols, including first aid when necessary. Collaborate with families, caregivers, and other professionals to coordinate care effectively. Maintain confidentiality of client information in accordance with legal and ethical standards. Skills Knowledge of working with individuals who have developmental disabilities or autism is preferred. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and team members. Competence in first aid procedures to ensure safety during emergencies. Empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to help others are essential qualities for success in this role.
