Dementia Companion Caregiver — PRN /
Part-Time Pay:
$17.00 per hour About the Role The Shepherd's Pathway is seeking compassionate, dependable caregivers to provide non-medical companionship, dementia support, and caregiver respite for seniors and their families throughout The Villages and surrounding areas. We believe meaningful care begins with the right match. Rather than frequently rotating caregivers, we thoughtfully match caregivers with clients based on personality, experience, availability, location, and client needs whenever possible. This is a PRN/client-match position . Hours and assignments become available as clients are onboarded and are not guaranteed. Some clients may begin with shorter schedules, such as 2-hour visits one or two days per week, making this position especially well-suited for caregivers seeking flexible or supplemental hours. Our caregivers provide calm companionship, familiar routines, meaningful engagement, and household support for seniors living with memory loss while giving family caregivers an opportunity to rest and recharge. This is a non-medical homemaker and companion position and does not include hands-on personal care. Responsibilities Provide compassionate companionship and emotional support Engage clients in conversation, dementia-friendly activities, walks, hobbies, and meaningful daily routines Provide gentle reminders for medications, hydration, meals, and established routines Prepare simple meals Assist with light housekeeping, dishes, laundry, and maintaining a comfortable home environment Provide companionship and supervision consistent with the client's service plan Accompany clients to appointments, errands, restaurants, or community activities when assigned Provide transportation when part of the client assignment and caregiver is approved to do so Observe and report relevant changes in a client's mood, behavior, or routine Provide respite and a supportive presence while family caregivers take needed breaks Maintain client dignity, privacy, professional boundaries, and confidentiality Complete required visit documentation after each shift Qualifications Must be 18 years of age or older Experience supporting seniors, individuals living with dementia, or adults with disabilities Calm, compassionate, and patient approach Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain consistent client assignments Strong communication skills Valid Florida driver's license Reliable personal vehicle and current auto insurance Smartphone with reliable internet access for scheduling, timekeeping, and visit documentation Ability to meet applicable background-screening requirements Willingness to complete required agency orientation and training Authorized to work in the United States Scheduling This is a PRN/client-match position , not a guaranteed-hours position. Client schedules vary and may include: 2-hour and longer visits Weekday mornings or afternoons Occasional evenings Weekends Respite or supplemental assignments Caregivers are contacted when a client opportunity aligns with their availability, location, experience, and the client's needs. Service Area Client assignments are available throughout The Villages and the surrounding communities in Sumter, Lake, and Marion Counties, including Lady Lake, Summerfield, Wildwood, Leesburg, Belleview, and Ocala. We make every effort to match caregivers with assignments that are reasonable for their location and availability. Pay:
