I am an active, independent man (50s) with a spinal cord injury living in Johns Creek, GA. I'm looking for a dependable and attentive partner to join my care team and help me maintain my busy, professional lifestyle. This isn't just a "job"— it's a chance to provide vital support in a positive, respectful home environment. My residence is fully equipped with an electronic Hoyer lift to ensure easy transfers, and I'll provide all the training needed on my specific equipment and routine. What You'll Be Doing - Your support allows me to stay active in my community and profession.
Daily responsibilities include:
Personal Care:
Assisting with morning and evening routines, including bathing, dressing, and hygiene.
Health Management:
Bowel and bladder care (Foley catheter/SCI program) and range-of-motion stretching.
Home & Lifestyle:
Meal planning/prep, light housekeeping, laundry, and organization. On the
Move:
Accompanying me to appointments and driving my adaptive minivan for errands and social activities.
Standard Shifts:
6:00 AM - 6:00 PM; 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM days are a priority at this time.
Extended Options:
We are open to discussing 24-48-hour shifts for the right candidate. Who You Are The ideal candidate is a team player with a calm, compassionate personality and a stable background. I give special consideration to those seeking long-term employment opportunities, who are ready for a Lead Caregiver role, and who are flexible enough to work both day and night shifts. You should possess meticulous attention to detail, as my health and independence rely on consistency—from precise health management routines to noticing subtle changes in skin integrity or positioning. Qualifications 3+ years of personal care experience (CNA, PCT, MA, or HHA preferred). Current CPR, First Aid, and TB test. Valid Driver's License with a clean record. Reliable transportation and a smoke-free/pet-friendly lifestyle. Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen. 3 Relevant References (minimum) Lives within ~25 miles of Johns Creek (Newtown Park area). Mobility Assistance:
Familiarity with assisting clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as transferring from bed to wheelchair, bathing, and grooming.
Active Certifications:
Having a CPR/First Aid certification or a CNA/HHA license is a strong indicator of preparedness, even if not strictly required.
Interpersonal Strength:
Strong communication skills are vital for building rapport and accurately documenting daily care or changes in condition.
Reliability:
A consistent track record of punctuality and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Compassionate Mindset:
A demonstrated empathetic and patient demeanor, especially when working one-on-one in a home environment.
Strong Observational Skills:
Ability to monitor skin health, recognize early signs of discomfort or autonomic dysreflexia, and maintain accurate daily logs.
Detail-Oriented Task Management:
Precision in executing health management programs (bowel/bladder) and maintaining a high standard of organization within the home.
Pay:
