We are currently seeking compassionate, dependable, and professional caregivers to join our team. As a Personal Care Assistant, you will assist clients with daily living activities and provide companionship to improve their overall quality of life.Typical Shift:
Your shift will start with traveling to the home of your assigned client. Client needs vary, so we match Care Professionals' skills to the clients' needs. You may be asked to do light housekeeping, companionship, outings, medical appointments, showers, toileting, medication reminders, dressing, grooming, oral care, escorting, transferring, or any other ADL or IADL according to the client's needs. You will NOT be asked to do skilled nursing tasks like administering medications, injections, wound care, or therapy.Responsibilities:
- Assists individual/youth with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, transferring and getting to and from activities and meals according to the individual service plan.
- Allows and encourages individual/youth to do as much of their own care as possible.
- Serves meals to individual/youth in the dining room or apartments and may assist in preparing meals following preplanned menus.
- Encourages individual/youth to eat a proper diet and take adequate fluids while respecting the individual/youth's right to free choice and records and reports changes in individual/youth's eating habits to the supervisor.
- Initiates and participates in leisure activities provided for individual/youth as described in the activity calendar and encourages individual/youth to socialize and participate in planned activities or programs to develop friendships with other individual/youth.
- Maintains individual/youth' records daily in a timely manner and in accordance with agency policy and procedures; documents medication distribution as applicable, leisure activities, incidents, and observations; reports any changes in individual/youth's physical condition and/or behavior, and visitors; observes and reports the health and emotional condition of each individual/youth; and promptly reports all changes to the supervisor.
- Assists individual/youth with medication as defined in medication procedure; assists or supervises individual/youth who self-administer medication; follows physician orders and state laws to administer medications to individual/youth who cannot self-administer their medications; and exhibits understanding of and follows medication policies and procedures.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly environment for the individual/youth; performs general housekeeping; and follows cleaning schedules for individual/youth laundry, bedrooms, dining area, living space, bathrooms, kitchen, and other areas.
- Follows proper procedures in emergency situations and responds promptly and positively to individual/youth requests for assistance.
- Encourages teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-employees.
