A Caregiver or Personal Care Aide provides non-medical care for adults, including elderly and disabled people, typically in their own homes. Assists clients with daily tasks including bathing, medication reminders, and light housekeeping; may also provide transportation for appointments and errands. These roles do not always require formal certification.
The caregiver is expected to make our clients' lives easier and more comfortable. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: providing caring companionship, helping with personal care, running errands and facilitating appointments, doing light housekeeping, reminding clients to take their medications, transporting patients to doctor's appointments, making beds, doing laundry, preparing meals, providing respite care and maintaining sanitary conditions in the home environment. It is extremely important that the client be allowed to maintain his or her dignity during care visits.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED; prior experience working in the home care field; attention to detail, interpersonal skills; time management skills; reliability and trustworthiness; stamina; ability to deal with people from different backgrounds; desire to help people.
