Job Description

Job Descritpion A direct service worker (DSW) provides personal care to the disabled. The setting of the care provided is a 15-bed female residential group home. As a DSW, your job is to help clients with all daily living activities. Your primary duties involve assisting with personal hygiene, coordinating activities, assisting with medication, preparing meals, performing housekeeping duties, and keeping the residents engaged in daily program functions. Basic personal care experience and excellent communication skills are required for this role.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Providing disabled residents with assistance. Assisting with medicine and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers. Monitoring the physical, mental, and emotional conditions of the residents and reporting findings. Performing personal hygiene care. Daily housekeeping duties. Preparing meals and assisting residents with eating and drinking. Assisting with the use of incontinence products or providing bathroom visit support. Running errands, including shopping for groceries and basic household items. Assisting clients from their beds into chairs or wheelchairs, and back. Accompanying clients on trips, such as medical appointments and community events. Maintaining a clean, positive, and safe environment.
REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or GED. National Caregiver Certification Course (NCCC) preferred. A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role. Experience in assisting with medications and treatments. Exceptional ability to assist clients with mobility, personal care, and hygiene needs. Ability to perform routine housekeeping duties, run errands, and prepare meals. Excellent interpersonal skills with a caring approach, and positive attitude.
