Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and reliable Respite Care Provider to provide one-on-one support to an individual with autism in Germantown, Maryland . The Respite Care Provider offers temporary relief to families and caregivers while ensuring the individual receives safe, attentive, and engaging support. Services may take place in the participant's home or within the community. This is a part-time weekend position offering approximately 4-5 hours of work over the weekend. Responsibilities Provide short-term, one-on-one respite care in home and community settings Ensure the participant's safety and well-being Engage the participant in recreational, educational, and social activities Follow individualized care plans and family instructions Support daily routines and independence Assist with personal care tasks, including feeding, dressing, and hygiene, when needed Respond appropriately to challenging behaviors using positive and supportive strategies Monitor and document participant behavior, mood, activities, and services provided Communicate with families and supervisors regarding concerns, progress, or important updates Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance Follow agency policies and applicable state requirements Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in a related field is preferred Experience supporting individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, or other special needs Patient, compassionate, dependable, and professional Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to respond appropriately during emergencies or challenging situations Ability to follow individualized care and safety plans Reliable transportation Ability to pass required background checks Weekend availability Schedule Part-Time Approximately 4-5 hours over the weekend .
