Job Description

Job Overview:

We are looking for people to help care for a 46 year old male restricted to a wheelchair live as independently as possible. We would love to hire people with experience, but we are willing to train the right person.
Duties:
Assist individual with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming. Prepare meals and ensure dietary requirements are met. Providing assistance/companionship by participating in activities such as: crafts, playing games, movies, going to community events. Communicating with other staff/manager regarding any medical changes, emergencies, daily occurrences, etc. To sum it up - The direct care staff are responsible for assisting and supporting one individual restricted to a wheelchair. Duties include cleaning, cooking, assisting with personal care, socializing, and participating in outings/activities. The candidate must have compassion to work with individuals with disabilities and must be comfortable with direct care, administering medications, and operating a vehicle. You are a part of a team that must work well together to ensure the individuals needs and goals are met.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age. Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary. Valid driver's license. Must pass criminal background check. Ability to adhere to Recipient Rights guidelines while respecting the dignity and rights of the individual being served. Able to complete Adult CPR/First Aid Training. (Required every 2 years). Able to perform the individual's needs/duties. Able to communicate expressively and receptively in order to follow individual plan requirements-specific emergency procedures specified by parent/legal guardian, and report on activities performed. Preferred qualities include excellent communication skills, positive energy, creativity, high personal integrity, and cleanliness.
