Special Needs Caregiver - Autism / Direct SupportJob Summary The Ginez Family is seeking two dependable, patient, and compassionate caregivers—one for each of our two autistic boys, ages 11 and 13 . We are looking for caregivers who can build a positive, meaningful relationship with one child while supporting communication, independence, daily routines, community participation, and engaging activities. Both boys use AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) devices to communicate and benefit from structure, consistency, patience, and positive support. Each child has his own personality, interests, abilities, and support needs. Caregivers will primarily work one-on-one with one child , although both boys may be present in the home or participate in some family and community activities together. This position may be a particularly good fit for Behavior Technicians (BTs/RBTs), Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), paraprofessionals, special education or behavioral-health students, teachers, childcare professionals, or individuals with experience supporting children or adults with autism or developmental disabilities . We are currently considering full-time, part-time, and backup/occasional caregivers . Responsibilities Provide safe, attentive, one-on-one support for one of our boys. Support communication and encourage use of the child's AAC device. Assist with daily routines and transitions. Encourage independence and development of everyday life skills. Engage the child in meaningful and enjoyable activities based on his interests and abilities. Participate in community activities such as walks, parks, libraries, museums, swimming, recreational activities, and other outings. Provide patient, positive support during frustration, transitions, or challenging behaviors. Follow established family routines, safety expectations, and behavioral/support strategies. Communicate with parents regarding activities, progress, concerns, and significant events during the shift. Help provide a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment in which the child can participate, learn, and enjoy his time. Qualifications Preferred experience includes one or more of the following: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Developmental or intellectual disabilities AAC devices or other communication supports ABA, behavior support, or positive behavior strategies Behavior Technician (BT) or Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) experience Paraprofessional or special education experience Direct Support Professional (DSP) experience Childcare, teaching, mentoring, or other experience supporting individuals with additional needs Professional autism experience is preferred, but we are also willing to consider the right person who is patient, dependable, comfortable learning, and genuinely interested in supporting individuals with disabilities . Applicants should be comfortable working independently with one child and participating in activities both in the family home and in the community. CPR/First Aid certification is preferred. Relevant training and certifications are a plus. Schedule Our greatest need during the school year is generally weekday afternoons and evenings after school , with additional opportunities on weekends, school breaks, and days when school is closed. We have enough hours available to consider different arrangements and are open to discussing schedules with strong candidates. Applicants do not need to be available for every available shift. Full-time, part-time, and backup/occasional positions may be available. Employment & Pay This is a private-family caregiver position . Employment and payroll are processed through our family's payroll/fiscal management service. This is a W-2/payroll position and is not paid in cash .
