Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Personnel to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for our clients, ensuring their comfort and safety while promoting independence. This role requires a blend of personal care skills, patience, and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including seniors and individuals with disabilities. Responsibilities Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the client's well-being. Monitor and document vital signs and changes in the client's condition. Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary restrictions and preferences. Perform light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe environment. Support clients in engaging in social activities and community involvement. Utilize proper techniques for heavy lifting and transferring clients using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary. Implement care plans tailored to individual needs, including Alzheimer's care, dementia care, and memory care strategies. Maintain confidentiality by adhering to HIPAA regulations in all aspects of patient care. Requirements Previous experience in home health, or long-term care settings is preferred. Knowledge of first aid and CPR certification is highly desirable. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is a plus. Strong patient observation skills with the ability to recognize changes in health status. Familiarity with cleaning protocols and maintaining hygiene standards in caregiving environments. Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks safely and effectively when assisting clients. Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
