Job Description

Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities (IDD)
Residential Specialist Location:
Peculiar, Missouri (Kansas City Metro Area) Full-Time 7 Days On | 7 Days Off Enjoy a work-life balance with a consistent rotating schedule. Primary Responsibilities Provide direct care, supervision, and support for adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) and promote life skills development. Encourage independence while supporting residents in achieving their personal goals. Build positive, trusting relationships through compassion, patience, encouragement, and effective communication. Support residents' health and wellness by: Administering and documenting medications. Scheduling and coordinating medical appointments. Monitoring health concerns and reporting changes. Assisting with nutrition and dietary needs. Encourage community involvement, recreational activities, and social engagement. Maintain a safe, clean, welcoming, and structured residential environment. Complete required administrative duties, including: Daily documentation Progress notes Incident reports Communication logs Participation in team meetings Ensure compliance with agency policies, state regulations, and quality care standards. Provide emotional support, crisis intervention, and positive behavior guidance when appropriate. Support MBCH's Christian mission and values by demonstrating compassion, dignity, respect, and servant leadership in every interaction. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. Must be at least 21 years of age . Valid driver's license required. Previous experience working with individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, residential care, caregiving, behavioral health, or human services is preferred. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills. Strong organizational and documentation skills. Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional during challenging situations. Compassionate, dependable, and committed to providing exceptional care and support. Ability to successfully pass all required background screenings and meet agency employment requirements.
