Company Overview The Arc of Davidson County is dedicated to ensuring that individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities have the opportunity to choose and achieve their goals related to learning, living, working, and engaging in community activities. We are committed to providing compassionate support and fostering independence for those we serve. Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate IDD (Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities) Direct Support Specialist to provide both residential and non-residential support services. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to empowering individuals with disabilities, promoting their well-being, and enhancing their quality of life through personalized care. This role involves assisting with daily activities, medication management, behavioral support, and community engagement, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all clients. Responsibilities Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, and mobility. Administer medications accurately following prescribed protocols while maintaining detailed documentation. Implement behavior management strategies tailored to each individual's needs, especially for those with dementia or memory care requirements. Provide transportation for appointments, errands, or community outings using company vehicles when necessary. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment in both residential and community settings. Collaborate with healthcare professionals, social workers, families, and team members to develop individualized support plans that promote independence and well-being. Skills Preffered experience in assisted living, nursing home care, or home & community care environments. Knowledge of medication administration procedures and vital signs monitoring. Familiarity with behavior management techniques. Ability to operate EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems accurately for documentation purposes. Strong caregiving skills with experience assisting with ADLs and personal care in group home or retirement home settings. Valid driver's license with reliable transportation for driving clients as needed. Certifications in first aid and CPR are preferred; meal preparation, cleaning, and use of assistive devices is advantageous.
