Experience Requirements:
Candidate must be a motivated team player, flexible, creative, dependable and reliable. Candidate should have related experience in providing direct supports. Qualified applicants must be 18 years or older, have a current driver's license, reliable transportation and are able to pass background check. The Arc of NC is seeking a passionate, hardworking, self-motivated individual to support individuals with intellectual disabilities in the Asheville area. This is a part time position with a flexible schedule. About the Role This position centers on providing one‑on‑one support to a young man in Swannanoa, NC who is eager to build a fuller, more connected life in his community. He's motivated, friendly, and ready to grow - and he's looking for a Support Associate who can walk beside him as he works toward his personal goals. You'll support him as he becomes more involved locally, especially through volunteering , exploring community activities, and strengthening his physical stamina . The job blends encouragement, teaching, and hands‑on support. Your work will include helping him identify meaningful volunteer opportunities, accompanying him to community spaces, supporting him in building confidence and independence, and incorporating physical activity into his weekly routine. He is seeking support on a consistent weekly schedule: Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM. This is a great fit for someone who enjoys being active in the community, values relationship‑building, and finds purpose in helping others grow into their goals. Key Responsibilities The Support Associate should have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build a trusting relationship that balances predictability with the introduction of new experiences Experience supporting individuals with autism or similar neurodevelopmental conditions is preferred Candidate will be dependable, proactive, and committed to helping the individual build life skills, social confidence, and community belonging through consistent and person-centered support.

Encourage her participation in social, recreational, and community activities that align with her interests and strengths.
Skill Development:
Teach and reinforce life skills, coping mechanisms, and self-advocacy techniques tailored to her needs.
Health and Safety:
Maintain a safe and structured environment, proactively addressing potential risks and challenges
Documentation:
