Job Description
Job Summary Join our dedicated team as a Farm Sanctuary Animal Caregiver, where your passion for animal welfare and hands-on care will make a meaningful difference in the lives of rescued farmed animals (horses, cows, pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, turkeys and more). In this vital role, you will provide daily care, ensure the health and safety of animals, maintain the sanctuary grounds and contribute to our mission of making the world a better place for animals.
PLEASE NOTE
This is a very physically intensive position. you would be working outside in ALL types of weather. You must be able to lift at least 80 lbs. consistently throughout the day. Duties Provide daily care for farmed animals, including feeding, watering, grooming, and cleaning enclosures to maintain optimal hygiene and comfort. Monitor animal health and behavior closely, recognizing signs of illness or distress, and promptly communicate with veterinary staff as needed. Assist with veterinary procedures such as medication administration, IV insertions, animal restraint, catheterization, and other critical care tasks. Support record keeping by documenting animal treatments, behaviors, feeding schedules, and health observations accurately. Maintain clean and safe living environments by performing routine cleaning of stalls, pens, and common areas using appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment). Handle animals safely during routine handling or special procedures like surgery preparation or behavior assessments. Property maintenance - such as fixing fencing, weeding, mowing, painting, power washing, etc. This role is perfect for compassionate individuals who are looking for a position that will keep them active. There is no down time throughout the day here at the sanctuary outside of allotted breaks.
