Dementia Companion Needed — Brookdale East Niskayuna I am looking for a warm, patient, and reliable companion for my mother, who lives at Brookdale East Niskayuna in Niskayuna, NY. My mother is an older woman living with dementia and benefits greatly from regular companionship, conversation, gentle encouragement, and meaningful activities. I am looking for someone who genuinely enjoys spending time with older adults and is comfortable with someone experiencing memory impairment.

The role would include:

Spending time talking and visiting with her Encouraging her to participate in activities Taking walks with her, when appropriate Sitting with her during meals and gently encouraging her to eat Looking through photographs, listening to music, playing simple games, or doing other enjoyable activities Providing reassurance and companionship when she becomes confused or anxious Helping her feel connected and less isolated Sending me a brief email update after each visit This is primarily a companionship position , rather than a medical or personal-care position. Brookdale staff handle her medications, bathing, toileting, and other care needs.

Ideal candidate:

Warm, patient, compassionate, and dependable Comfortable spending time with someone who has dementia or Alzheimer's Experience working with older adults and/or people with dementia preferred Enjoys conversation and simple activities Reliable and able to make a regular commitment Good communicator

Schedule:

4 hours per week, consisting of two 2-hour visits per week . Some flexibility regarding days and times.

Pay:
