Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and energetic DSP (Direct Support Professional) for the Second Shift to join our compassionate care team. In this vital role, you will provide high-quality support and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, seniors, and residents in various care settings. Your positive attitude and proactive approach will help foster a safe, respectful, and engaging environment where residents can thrive. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people's lives while working in a dynamic, team-oriented setting. Responsibilities Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary Administer medications following prescribed protocols and document all medication activities accurately using a Medication Administration Record. Monitor vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to ensure residents' health stability Provide companionship and engage residents in social activities to promote mental well-being, including memory care and dementia-specific activities Support residents with meal preparation, feeding assistance, and maintaining proper nutrition standards Implement behavior management techniques to support residents with behavioral challenges or dementia-related symptoms Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties such as cleaning resident areas and common spaces Document incidents, resident progress, and care activities thoroughly to ensure compliance with regulatory standards Drive residents when needed for appointments or community outings while adhering to safety protocols Qualifications Prior experience in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home & community care is highly preferred Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, dementia care, behavior, and memory care best practices Certification or experience in First Aid and CPR is advantageous Familiarity with medication administration procedures and vital signs monitoring Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities in general is desirable Ability to operate RCA efficiently for documentation purposes Strong caregiving skills with a compassionate approach toward residents' needs Valid driver's license for driving responsibilities related to resident outings or appointments Ability to lift or transfer residents safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary Join our team and be part of a supportive environment where your dedication directly impacts the quality of life for those we serve!
