As a Hospice STNA with Addus Family company, you'll provide compassionate, hands-on care to hospice patients in their homes or facilities, supporting comfort, dignity, and quality of life. Working closely with the nursing team, you'll assist with personal care, mobility, vital signs, and simple treatments while observing and reporting changes in condition. You'll offer emotional support to patients and families, honoring their goals and cultural preferences. Responsibilities Provide personal care (bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting) to hospice patients per care plan Assist with safe mobility, transfers, positioning, and fall prevention Measure and record vital signs, intake/output, and report changes in patient condition Support comfort measures, including skin care, basic symptom observations, and non-pharmacologic comfort techniques Offer emotional support and respectful communication to patients and their families Assist with light housekeeping and simple tasks related to patient care and safety Accurately document care provided in electronic or paper records per agency policy Collaborate with RNs, social workers, chaplains, and the interdisciplinary hospice team Follow infection control, safety, and HIPAA privacy standards at all times Participate in ongoing training, in-services, and quality improvement activities Required Skills Patient personal care Hospice and end-of-life care practices Vital signs measurement and documentation Mobility assistance and safe transfers Infection control procedures Basic symptom observation and reporting Electronic health record (EHR) or charting Communication with patients and families Time management and visit organization Understanding of HIPAA and patient privacy
