We are currently hiring dependable, professional Personal Care Assistants (PCAs) to support students within Kennett Consolidated School District beginning with the 2026-2027 school year with an anticipated start date of August 31, 2026 . This is a school-based position working directly with students during the academic day. It is not a home health, residential, or assisted living position. We are building our team now to ensure staff are hired, onboarded, and prepared before students return to school. Position Overview Personal Care Assistants provide direct support to students in elementary, middle, or high school settings based on district needs. Working alongside teachers, administrators, and behavior specialists, PCAs help students participate successfully in the school environment while promoting independence, engagement, and positive behavior. This is a school-year position that follows the district's academic calendar. What You'll Do As a Personal Care Assistant, you will: Support student engagement during classroom instruction and school activities Assist students with transitions, organization, task completion, and daily routines Implement behavior support plans under the direction of supervisors and school staff Collect accurate, objective behavioral and academic data Encourage student independence while providing appropriate levels of support Maintain professional communication with teachers, administrators, and supervisors Support students during less structured settings such as lunch, recess, and arrival or dismissal Maintain confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries at all times Working with Students Students may experience behavioral, emotional, or academic challenges throughout the school day. Team members are expected to remain calm, patient, and consistent while implementing established support plans and following approved safety procedures. Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to: Remain active throughout the school day, including standing, walking, and moving throughout school buildings Assist students during classroom and building transitions Occasionally provide physical assistance to students as required by individual support plans Lift and move up to 25 pounds when necessary Participate in approved crisis prevention or safety procedures when required and appropriately trained Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Reliable transportation and dependable attendance Professional verbal and written communication skills Ability to work daytime school hours Ability to successfully obtain and maintain all required Pennsylvania school clearances: Act 34 Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Clearance Act 151 Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance Act 114 FBI Fingerprint Clearance Current TB Test Candidates must demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and responsiveness throughout the hiring process. Preferred Qualifications While not required, preference may be given to candidates with: Experience working with children or adolescents Experience in schools, behavioral health, special education, childcare, or human services College coursework in education, psychology, behavior analysis, social work, or a related field Interest in pursuing Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), BCaBA, or BCBA credentials Prior experience is valued, but we place significant emphasis on reliability, coachability, professionalism, and a willingness to learn.
