We are seeking a dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP/SSP) to provide one-on-one support to a young woman with cerebral palsy and intellectual disabilities in her home and community. Why This Position Stands Out Competitive pay based on experience Paid training and orientation Flexible part-time scheduling Consistent one-on-one support assignment Supportive family and work environment Ongoing training and professional development Opportunity to develop specialized skills in personal care, communication support, and community inclusion What You'll Do As a DSP/SSP, you will play a key role in supporting health, safety, independence, and community participation by: Providing hands-on personal care and support with daily routines Assisting with safe transfers, including chair-to-mat and bathtub transfers Using mechanical lift equipment safely (training provided) Supporting communication through a tablet-based communication system Encouraging participation in community activities, recreation, and personal interests Teaching and reinforcing daily living and independence skills Following individualized support plans and healthcare routines Monitoring health, safety, and overall well-being during shifts Responding calmly and effectively to changing support needs Skills & Qualifications We Value The ideal candidate will demonstrate: Strong reliability and attendance Patience, compassion, and professionalism Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to follow detailed care and support plans Good judgment and problem-solving abilities Adaptability and a positive attitude Commitment to maintaining the individual's dignity, choice, and independence Ability to build a consistent, long-term support relationship Experience supporting individuals with disabilities, personal care needs, healthcare routines, or community-based services is highly valued, but we are willing to train the right person. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Ability to safely assist with transfers and lifting requirements up to 155 pounds Reliable transportation Residence within reasonable driving distance of Mount Joy, PA Ability to successfully pass required background checks Ability to provide dependable, consistent support
