This is a PRN W-2 position with scheduling based on family needs and each provider's individual availability. There are no guaranteed weekly hours at this time. Responsibilities The Postpartum & Newborn Care Specialist may assist families with: Hands-on newborn care Newborn soothing and routine support Bottle feeding and basic feeding support Diapering and routine newborn care Safe sleep education and practices Parent education Supporting parents as they become comfortable caring for their newborn Practical non-medical postpartum support Maintaining a safe and supportive environment for the family This is a non-medical postpartum and newborn support role . Schedule & Compensation $30/hour Minimum 4-hour shifts Shifts may range from 4 to 12 hours depending on family needs Daytime, evening, overnight and weekend opportunities may be available Truly PRN and flexible scheduling No guaranteed number of hours per week Each provider will be able to identify: Days they are available AM/PM availability Night and weekend availability Preferred travel range Types and lengths of shifts they are comfortable accepting Providers will not be required to accept shifts outside of their stated availability, preferred travel area or comfort level. Mileage is reimbursed for qualifying travel between families. Qualifications Experience caring for newborns and postpartum families is required.

Newborn Care Specialist experience Postpartum care experience Mother-baby nursing experience Nursery or NICU experience Postpartum doula experience Other significant professional newborn care experience Additional requirements: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required prior to independent care Successful completion of a background check required Reliable transportation Comfortable working independently in families' homes Strong communication skills Dependable, professional and supportive approach to newborn and family care Registered nurses are encouraged to apply and RN experience is highly valued; however, an RN license is not utilized in this position. This is a non-medical postpartum and newborn care role, and employees will not be functioning as registered nurses or providing nursing care while working in this position. About Breastfriends Breastfriends Lactation & Infant Feeding supports families throughout Amarillo and surrounding communities during pregnancy, infant feeding and the early postpartum period. Our Postpartum & Newborn Care program is designed to provide practical, individualized support as families adjust to life with a new baby.
