CHILDCARE WORKER

FULL-TIME PART-TIME Responsibilities 3 twelve-hour shifts The Childcare Worker reports to the Licensed Childcare Administrator and is responsible for supervising children and maintaining a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment that meets the individualized care plan and personal development needs of the children in accordance with Agency standards, state licensing standards and other federal, state and local regulatory requirements. The Childcare Worker will follow a designated routine as assigned. Essential duties Knowing which children, they are responsible for Childcare services for each assigned child Being aware of and accountable for each childs ongoing activity Providing the level of supervision necessary to ensure each childs safety and well-being, including auditory and/or visual awareness of each childs ongoing activity as appropriate [High]; and Being able to intervene when necessary to ensure each childs safety In deciding how closely to supervise a child, the caregiver must consider: The childs age The childs individual differences and abilities The indoor and outdoor layout of the operation Surrounding circumstances, hazards, and risks The childs physical, mental, emotional, and social needs. Caregivers must: Be aware of the childrens habits, interests, and any special needs, including any special supervision needs Provide a safe environment. 2 | Page Professional Staffing Plan Cultivate developmentally appropriate independence in children through planned but flexible program activities Positively reinforce childrens eForts and accomplishments Ensure continuity of care for children by sharing with incoming caregivers information about each childs activities during the previous shift and any verbal written information or instructions given by the parent or other professionals Implement and follow the childrens service plan If a child is participating in an unsupervised childhood activity, the caregiver must: Know where the child will be Give the child a specific time to return to the operation or the caregivers location Provide, arrange, or confirm an appropriate method of transportation to and from the activity Give the child a way to contact the caregiver in an emergency Be available to respond if the child contacts the caregiver and needs immediate assistance. Caregivers that supervise a child receiving treatment services for an emotional disorder must maintain daily progress notes for the child. Caregivers must sign and date each progress note at the time the progress note is completed. If a child or children are allowed overnight visits with staF, the child(ren) must be properly fed, lodged, and supervised, and their health, safety, and wellbeing protected. The person(s) responsible for the child(ren) must be given information about obtaining emergency medical care. Provide children with a full range of basic living skills, including, but not limited to bathing, feeding, cleaning, shopping and laundry Clean, organize and maintain the childrens living space to provide a safe and therapeutic environment Ensure safety, security, and sanitation standards are always maintained in all work areas Accompany children and participate in and manage therapy sessions as needed Teach, supervise, and assist children in achieving their daily goals Converse with children to reinforce positive behavior and promote social interaction and community inclusion Accompany and/or transport children to appointments, outings and activities using established safety protocol 3 | Page Professional Staffing Plan Assist with the new resident orientation Report and properly document all incidents in a timely manner (prior to the end of the shift) Prepare and attend supervision, unit, team and facility meetings as required Provide back-up services and assistance to other units/programs when needed Complete required training hours per licensing standards Other duties and special projects as assigned Lead Direct Specialists Quality assurance of processes and documents Pass medication Supervise Childcare Workers Working Relationships Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with the program management team and staF, children and volunteers to meet the needs of the children and ensure the program goals and objectives are being met Work closely with management, and the program staff to ensure program operations, goals and objectives are being met and the children are receiving the highest quality of services and support Work as team player and exhibit professional behavior and a positive attitude with both internal and external clients that reflects positively on the Agency and is consistent with Agency policies and practices. Work within the Agencys Code of Ethics and establish working relationships within the ethical boundaries established Provide a safe and loving environment to children Minimum qualifications High School Diploma or GED equivalent Valid TX Drivers license Must be 21 years of age or older per licensing requirements Prior full-time working experience, preferably in a similar environment and/or with children Experience working with individuals with emotional disorders Knowledge of behavior modification and therapeutic settings 4 | Page Professional Staffing Plan Strong communication skills, with demonstrated ability to write legibly in a concise and understandable manner Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and complete tasks in a timely manner Ability to work both in a team environment and independently Preferred Qualifications Bachelors degree in Social Work, Social Services, Human Services, or closely Related field 6 months experience in residential care facility or similar setting Basic knowledge of behavior modification and therapeutic settings Ability to use good judgment, think and react rationally and calmly in diFicult and stressful situations Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with a diverse staF and resident populatio Background requirements: Candidates must pass a background check.
