Job Description

Experienced Caregiver - PRN Confidential Employer — Fulshear/Katy, TX Job Summary We are seeking an experienced, dependable caregiver to join a small residential assisted living setting on a PRN basis. This is a hands-on role for someone who is comfortable providing personal care, supporting residents with dementia or cognitive changes, assisting with mobility, and participating in the everyday household responsibilities that are part of caring for residents in a residential environment. We are looking for someone who is attentive, reliable, calm, respectful, and willing to work as part of a team . In a small-home setting, every team member contributes directly to resident care and the overall condition of the home.
Key Responsibilities Personal Care:
Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, incontinence care, oral hygiene, and other personal-care needs while preserving dignity and encouraging independence when appropriate.
Dementia Support:
Provide patient, respectful assistance to residents experiencing memory loss or cognitive changes, including appropriate redirection, reassurance, and support with established routines.
Mobility & Fall-Risk Assistance:
Assist residents with walking, positioning, mobility, and transfers according to their individual needs, service plans, and established procedures. Remain attentive to residents who require supervision or assistance because of fall risk.
Medication Support:
Perform only those medication-related tasks the caregiver is legally permitted, appropriately trained, and authorized to perform. Follow applicable medication procedures and complete required documentation accurately.
Observation & Reporting:
Observe residents throughout the shift and promptly report changes or concerns involving physical condition, cognition, mobility, behavior, appetite, skin condition, elimination patterns, or ability to perform daily activities.
Individualized Care:
Follow each resident's individualized service plan, established routines, preferences, safety precautions, and care instructions. Complete required care documentation accurately and promptly.
Meals & Dining:
Assist with meal preparation, serving, hydration, feeding assistance when needed, kitchen cleanup, and resident dietary needs according to established instructions.
Resident Engagement:
Engage residents through conversation, companionship, activities, and everyday interaction in addition to providing physical care.
Household Responsibilities:
Participate in laundry, dishes, light housekeeping, trash removal, restocking, organization, cleaning, and other routine household responsibilities. In a small residential setting, these responsibilities are shared by the caregiving team.
Teamwork & Communication:
Communicate professionally with coworkers and management, share responsibilities appropriately, provide clear shift-to-shift information, promptly communicate resident concerns, and respond professionally to direction, coaching, and feedback.
Safety & Emergency Procedures:
Follow established resident-safety, emergency, fire, evacuation, infection-control, and incident-response procedures and participate in required training and drills.
Resident Rights & Reporting:
Protect resident dignity, privacy, confidentiality, and rights. Follow applicable reporting requirements and employer procedures concerning suspected abuse, neglect, exploitation, injuries, incidents, and other resident concerns. Physical Requirements This is a physically demanding, hands-on caregiving position . Caregivers must be able to perform the essential physical functions of resident care, with or without reasonable accommodation. The position requires the strength, balance, mobility, and stamina necessary to assist residents with bathing, toileting, incontinence care, dressing, repositioning, standing, walking, mobility, and transfers. It also requires frequent standing and walking and the ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull. Caregivers are expected to use appropriate transfer techniques, available assistive devices, and the level of assistance called for by the resident's individual needs and established care procedures. Qualifications Previous paid, hands-on caregiving experience with older adults required Experience caring for older adults with dementia or cognitive impairment strongly preferred Experience in assisted living, memory care, residential care, home care, or another senior-care setting preferred Experience assisting with bathing, toileting, incontinence care, dressing, mobility, repositioning, and transfers Ability to recognize and promptly communicate changes or concerns involving a resident Ability to read, understand, and follow written care instructions and complete required documentation Dependable attendance and punctuality Professional and respectful communication with residents, families, coworkers, and management Ability to work independently while functioning cooperatively as part of a small team Willingness to perform both direct resident care and routine household responsibilities Must meet applicable Texas assisted living employability requirements, including required background and registry checks Must satisfy applicable tuberculosis screening requirements Must successfully complete applicable orientation, training, competency, and continuing-education requirements before or within the timeframes required for assigned duties PRN Availability This is a PRN position , with shifts offered based on staffing needs and employee availability. PRN employees are not guaranteed a specific number of hours. However, once a shift is accepted, reliable attendance and completion of the scheduled shift are expected . Applicants should have enough ongoing availability to work PRN shifts with reasonable regularity. We are especially interested in caregivers who: Notice when a resident needs assistance without waiting to be told Remain attentive and engaged throughout the shift Are comfortable caring for residents with dementia or cognitive impairment Treat residents with patience, dignity, and respect Help wherever needed rather than dividing responsibilities into "my job" and "someone else's job" Communicate concerns promptly Accept direction and feedback professionally Can be counted on to arrive when they have committed to work
Pay:
From $15.00 per hour Expected hours: 12.0 - 36.0 per week
