Overview:
We are seeking compassionate individuals to join our team as Direct Support Professionals. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a crucial role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in group homes. within the community.
Duties:
As a member of our Direct Care team, you would: Provide active treatment by supporting all areas of the program, including training, operations, and the overall needs of the Individual in the Group Home. Provide transportation for Individuals via company vehicles and maintain status to legally operate them. Protect the rights of the Individual by treating them with dignity and respect. Complete all documentation required for Individuals and Company operations Know and comply with all Company policies. Conduct all matters in a professional and mature manner while representing the Company. Stay alert and awake while on duty. Always ensure a safe and clean environment. Model and reinforce all needs of Individuals and Group Home operations by "leading by example." Attending all in-services and trainings as scheduled to meet the needs of the Group Home, Individuals, and the Company. Communicate timely all Individual, home and vehicle needs to the Group Home Manager. Assist/monitor all self-medication passes and performance of tasks delegated by the Nurse. Immediately notify the Nursing staff when an error is found or occurs. Encourage and support Individuals to be active in community events, outings, and opportunities. Facilitate social interaction and socially valued behavior. Give Individuals a choice of their activities. Ensure menus and diets are followed.
Education:
Minimum:
High School diploma or
GED Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations:
Must have a reliable form of transportation Valid driver's license and auto liability insurance Must have been a licensed driver for at least one year
Physical Demands:
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions. Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands or fingers, reach with hands and arms, feel, see, talk, and hear. Must be able to lift up to 25lbs. May occasionally be exposed to bodily fluids, fumes, or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
Experience:
  • Experience working with people with developmental disabilities is preferred
  • Knowledge of caregiving practices and techniques
  • Familiarity with group home or residential care settings
  • Ability to provide direct support in activities of daily living
  • Understanding of resident rights and advocacy
