Job Description
Summary Direct Care Staff are responsible for daily care and supervision of residents while in our care. The essential duties and responsibilities of this role are listed below. Other duties may be assigned as necessary. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervises residents in activities to observe or effect changes in their social behavior. Teaches rules, manners, policies for interpersonal relationships, personal care, etc.
- Completes shift documentation including but not limited to residential case notes, incident reports, and resident inventory; also required to complete documentation requested by the administrators and clinical staff such as sleep logs and behavior checklists.
- Observes methods/techniques of staff and participates in treatment of residents in interaction, limit setting, and implementation of treatment plans, also responsible for co-facilitation and involvement in clinical groups, if applicable.
- Escorts residents to groups, interviews, meetings, mealtimes, recreation, education activities, field trips, and medical appointments.
- Maintains age-appropriate rules and enforces the behavioral management system, including proper conduct of residents during work, recreation, and education.
- May administer and record medication as ordered by physician.
- Works to prevent unacceptable behavior in residents or groups.
- Provides crisis intervention as needed.
- Maintains professional boundaries between self and residents to ensure appropriateness in the working relationship.
- Communicates all appropriate information internally and externally to facilitate the treatment of the resident.
- Must be available to work various shifts on multiple days of the week including weekends.
- Attends training and meetings as required.
- Perform all duties within contract, company policy, state and federal regulations, and COA standards.
- Review client files on a periodic basis to become familiarized with the specific, individualized needs and goals of the residents in their care.
- Report serious incidents and suspected abuse, neglect, and exploitation to DFPS
- Maintain child confidentiality
- Assist in meal preparation and clean up
- Active monitoring
- Providing accurate documentation
- Reports directly to both the facility Administrator and the President
- Responsible for meeting the child's needs
- Helping with homework
- Assisting with morning preparation
- Following the daily routine
- Reminders of expectations
- Adherence to bedtime, quiet time, etc.
- Ensuring that chores are complete
- Aid with school pick up/drop off as needed
- Other assigned duties
