warm, active family in Vienna, Virginia is seeking an experienced and dependable Family Assistant to help manage the day-to-day care of their home while also providing afternoon support for their three boys, ages 10, 8, and 5. This is a true hybrid Family Assistant position combining professional household responsibilities with afternoon childcare and family support. From approximately 10:00 AM-3:00 PM, the Family Assistant will focus primarily on housekeeping, laundry, organization, light food preparation, and maintaining the home. Beginning around 3:00-3:30 PM, the role will transition as needed to helping with the children, carpools, activities, meals, and the family's afternoon routine. The family utilizes a monthly deep-cleaning service, allowing the Family Assistant to focus on maintaining the home consistently throughout the week rather than being responsible for intensive deep cleaning. The ideal candidate will genuinely enjoy both aspects of the position and be comfortable transitioning from independently managing household responsibilities during the day to being an engaged, dependable presence for the children in the afternoon.HOUSEHOLD RESPONSIBILITIES

00 AM-3:00 PM Complete regular housekeeping and maintain the home to a consistently high standard Clean and maintain bathrooms, bedrooms, common areas, kitchen areas, and frequently used floors Maintain kitchen surfaces and appliances and reset the kitchen as needed Manage household laundry, linens, ironing, steaming, folding, and garment care Change and launder bed linens on an appropriate schedule Maintain organization of closets, cabinets, drawers, pantry areas, linen closets, and household storage Manage trash and recycling Monitor household supplies and communicate when items need replenishing Wash, clean, and cut fresh fruits and vegetables to keep readily available for the family Prepare simple snacks and assist with light food preparation Assist with meals the mother has already prepared or started, such as monitoring something simmering on the stove, finishing simple meal components, or removing prepared food from the oven at the appropriate time Complete household organization projects as time allows Assist with cleanup following household maintenance, deliveries, and service providers Proactively notice and address household needs without requiring constant directionAFTERNOON FAMILY ASSISTANCE

00-6:00 PM As the children return from school, the focus of the position will transition toward supporting the family and the children's afternoon schedules.Responsibilities may include:
Pick up children from school or bus stops as needed Drive children to and from extracurricular activities and carpools Be present with the children when a parent is unavailable Prepare and serve fresh after-school snacks or assist with dinner Provide general supervision and ensure the children are safe and cared for Help keep backpacks, belongings, and afternoon routines organized Assist with changing transportation and scheduling needs Help keep the household running smoothly through the busy afternoon hours This is not a traditional nanny position. The children are increasingly independent, and the childcare component is primarily focused on transportation, meals, supervision, and providing a responsible and caring adult presence when needed. Occasional flexibility to arrive earlier or stay later would be appreciated when a parent is traveling or the children's schedules require additional assistance. Occasional evening babysitting may also be available if mutually desired.IDEAL CANDIDATE

Prior professional private household experience Strong housekeeping, laundry, and household organization skills Prior experience working with children Comfortable with light food preparation and assisting with meals Valid driver's license and safe driving record Reliable personal vehicle for work-related driving; approved mileage will be reimbursed Ability to work Monday-Friday, 10:00 AM-6:00 PM Local candidates only; relocation is not being offeredPay:
