Behavioral Support Caregiver - RBT Preferred Private Household - 4.2 Virginia Beach, VA Job Details Part-time $23 - $30 an hour 20 hours ago Benefits Paid training Paid orientation Flexible schedule Qualifications RBT Certification CPI Certification Assisting with ADLs Direct support Adolescents Full Job Description About the position We are a private family in Virginia Beach seeking a dependable, experienced caregiver to provide one-on-one support and occasional overnight respite care for our 15-year-old son with autism. Michael is affectionate, funny, and enjoys connecting with people he trusts. He requires significant daily support and does best with caregivers who are calm, confident, patient, and comfortable supporting an adolescent who can experience behavioral escalation. This is a caregiving/respite position, not an ABA therapy position. Experience as an RBT, Behavior Technician, DSP, special education professional, or in a similar behavioral-support role is strongly preferred. Responsibilities Provide one-on-one supervision, companionship, and support Assist with daily living and personal-care needs as needed Participate in activities at home and in the community Follow established routines and behavioral-support strategies Respond calmly and safely during periods of frustration or escalation Communicate regularly with parent regarding activities and any concerns Provide occasional overnight respite care in the family home Be comfortable staying with Michael independently for one or more nights when his parent is traveling Preferred experience Experience working with autistic adolescents or individuals with significant support needs Experience managing physical aggression or significant behavioral escalation RBT, ABA, special education, DSP, or similar direct-care experience CPI, Safety-Care, PCM, or other crisis-prevention training is a plus Current RBT certification is not required . We are primarily looking for someone who is experienced, steady, warm, confident, and comfortable working independently in a home setting. Schedule Part-time, primarily weekday afternoon/evening hours, with some weekend availability. Approximately 10-20 hours per week depending on availability. Occasional overnight respite care is also needed, including multi-night stays when I travel. Overnight availability is strongly preferred. Advance notice will be provided whenever possible, and overnight/multi-day care will be compensated separately. Pay $23-$30 per hour, based on experience. Paid weekly. We are hoping to find someone interested in becoming a consistent, long-term part of Michael's support team.
