Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Care Professional to join our team at a residential care home for children with developmental and cognitive disabilities. In this role, you will provide essential support and supervision to ensure the safety, well-being, and development of our residents. The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, possess strong communication skills, and be committed to creating a nurturing environment for children in need of specialized care. Duties Provide daily personal care and support to children with developmental and cognitive disabilities in a residential setting. Assist residents with activities of daily living, including hygiene, dressing, and mobility. Administer medications accurately following prescribed protocols. Monitor residents' health and well-being, responding promptly to their needs or emergencies. Maintain a safe and clean environment in accordance with safety standards and regulations. Communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members to coordinate care plans and report any concerns. Operate standard passenger vehicles as needed for transportation purposes. Implement behavior management strategies tailored to individual needs. Follow all safety procedures, including first aid and CPR protocols, to ensure resident safety at all times. Document daily activities, incidents, and progress notes accurately and thoroughly. Qualifications Some experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities. Prior residential care home experience is preferred. Knowledge of medication administration procedures. Must be 21 years of age or older Must pass a state and federal background check, including fingerprinting Ability to operate a standard passenger car safely. Certification in First Aid and CPR is required or willingness to obtain upon hire. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, families, and team members. Experience working specifically with individuals who have cognitive disabilities is highly desirable.
